K-9 officer leads to drug arrest of fleeing suspect

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) -

Kennett police arrested a man for chasing three women with a knife.

According to the Kennett Police Department, officers were called out to the 1200 block of Floyd Street in reference to a man chasing three women with a knife and trying to stab them.

The suspect ran from the scene and was later spotted on Church Street where he ran from officers again.

A K-9 officer found a piece of clothing the suspect was seen wearing and officers found an unspecified amount of marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the clothing.

KPD said they found the suspect Shawn Utley and arrested him for domestic assault second degree, resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Utley was also arrested on a pre-existing charge of possession of a controlled substance.
