JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - In the state of Arkansas you must be 21 years of age to legally drink alcohol. Several Region 8 businesses were reminded of that fact recently at an Alcoholic Beverage Control board meeting.
During its November meeting in Little Rock, the ABC board fined 5 local businesses for selling alcoholic beverages to minors. Of those, 4 were located in Jackson County.
Bo Bailey's, 815 Hwy. 67 North in Newport, was fined $300 and placed on 90 days probation for furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Doublebee's #127, located at 1600 Malcolm in Newport, and T-Ricks #2, located at 105 Hwy. 367 South in Tuckerman, received the same fine and probation for selling to a minor.
Spankey's, 24841 Hwy. 37 North in Newport, received a $1,000 fine and 1 year probation for selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
In Mountain Home, ARA Exxon, located at 1508 Hwy. 62 SW, was fined $350 and placed on 90 days probation for the same offense.
The owner of The Entertainer, 2044 Hwy. 18 East in Blytheville, did not sell to minors. Instead, the ABC board fined him $200 for firing a gun into the ceiling of the establishment.
If the fines are not paid by Dec. 9, the businesses' permits will be suspended.
