PARAGOULD, AR (CRC) -
While off to a 6-2 start on the season, the Pioneers Men's basketball team at Crowley's Ridge College will travel to New Orleans for a Saturday night match up with NCAA division one opponent Privateers of the University of New Orleans. This will be the seventh game versus an NCAA Division one opponent in the Pioneers program history, but their first with UNO. They are currently 0-6 all time in those games. They have two losses each to Tennessee Tech and Houston Baptist, and one loss each to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Eastern Kentucky.
The New Orleans Privateers men's basketball team dropped to 1-3 on the season as they fell behind by as many as 24 points in the second half on Sunday and could not rally in a 79-60 loss to Denver University.
Crowley's Ridge is coming off their third straight victory after a 101-70 win on the road over the University of the Ozarks on Monday night. The Pioneers have also defeated Lyon College 68-54 and Boyce College 88-74 during their current winning streak.
New Orleans is led is scoring by Kevin Brown, a 6'2 senior from Houston, Texas, who is averaging 14.8 points per game this season. Christavious Gill, a 5'8 sophomore from Alexandria, Louisiana is second in scoring for the Privateers with 12.5 points per game.
Crowley's Ridge is led in scoring by two seniors this season. Quinn Cooper, a 6'5 guard from Covington, Louisiana, is averaging 21.6 points per game as he returns to his home state this weekend. Roy Marshall, a 6'5 guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin is second in scoring for the Pioneers with 21.3 points per game.
Along with Cooper, senior guard Javeon Walker and senior forward Tim Shepard will be returning to their home states for the game Saturday. Walker, a 5'10 guard and Shepard a 6'3 forward are both originally from Hammond, Louisiana.
