New Orleans beats Crowley's Ridge 100-85

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Colton Weisbrod scored 23 points, Christavius Gill scored 18, and New Orleans held off Crowley's Ridge College 100-85 on Saturday.

Kevin Hill scored 14 off the bench, Nate Frye scored 13 with eight assists, and the Privateers (2-3) outrebounded the Pioneers 36-35.

Quinn Cooper led Crowley's Ridge (6-3), an NCCAA member, with 30 points, including 6 of 9 3-pointers, Roy Marshall had 28, and Javeon Walker 17.

New Orleans opened with a 13-5 run, then used a 12-1 run to lead 37-25 after a 3-pointer by Bryce Jackson. Gill scored 13 points and New Orleans led 54-41 at halftime.

Crowley's Ridge used an 11-1 run to pull within five, 57-52, early in the second half, and Tim Shepard made it a one-point game, 61-60 after hitting two free throws for the Pioneers. The Privateers led 80-73 after a layup by Hill with 6:20 to play, then ripped a 12-2 run and continued to pull away.
