PARAGOULD, AR (CRC) - With a quick turn around in the calendar after a tough road win on Thursday night, the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College were sluggish at times in their 84-74 home win on Saturday afternoon
over Missouri Baptist University.
Roy Marshall scored with 13:30 to play in the first half to give the Pioneers an early 10 point lead. Missouri Baptist battled back to tie the score at 27 with 7:10 to play in the half. Quinn Cooper scored a basket to give CRC the lead back with 14 seconds in the half.
CRC expanded on a tight 39-38 halftime lead to pull out the 10 point win benefited from a much stronger shooting effort from the peremiter in the second half. The Pioneers converted on four of eight attempts from behind the three point line in the second half.
Cooper made a basket off a Skylor Guess assist with 15;46 to go in the game to give CRC a ten point lead at 51-41. CRC held their biggest lead in the game after a Tim Shepard basket off a Javeon Walker assist with 4:35 to play to make the score 75-57.
Pioneers post Skylor Guess led all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds including two makes from the three-point line on the day. Quinn Cooper added 17 points and fellow seniors Tim Shepard and Roy Marshall each scored 11 points on the afternoon.
Crowley's Ridge improves to 8-3 on the season and will next face Rhema College at home on Friday night at 7:00.
