JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A group of fifth grade students decided to give up their Christmas party to help others instead.
The students from Rivercrest Elementary School voted unanimously to raise donations for man's best friend instead of having their class Christmas party.
They traveled to Jonesboro Thursday to deliver blankets, toys, and dog treats to the Jonesboro Family Pet Hospital.
“It made me excited because my dog gets hurt and it makes me mad and I want to come here sometimes,” fifth grade student Michael Sharp said. “That's the way it made me feel. Made me feel happy, excited.”
“I thought it was really helpful because we get to help all the other dogs and I have a dog too," student Presley Worshan said. "We need to care for others and our furry friends."
The 53 students collected almost 200 items for the hospital.
