Jonesboro police investigate theft of three cars from different lots

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are looking for four men wanted for questioning in connection to the theft of three stolen vehicles from three car lots, according to a police report.

Police said four men stole a black 2009 Dodge Challenger from Central Buick GMC at about 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. During the investigation, police discovered a blue 2013 Dodge Avenger was stolen from Premier Auto. Thursday afternoon, police got a third stolen vehicle report from Central Chevrolet, which reported a silver 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was missing from its lot.

The police report stated that two employees at Central Buick GMC called about the stolen Challenger Thursday afternoon.

The employees said four men came to the store in a black Lincoln town car on Wednesday and test drove the Challenger. As the men and a salesman were talking about the car, one of the suspects switched out a key and gave the salesman a key to a different vehicle.

Four hours later, surveillance video captures four men in a blue Avenger, silver Malibu and a black Lincoln towncar as one man gets out of the Avenger and into the Challenger. The suspect then drives off in the Challenger.

While viewing the video, investigators noticed the front window price on the blue Avenger was removed but tape remained.

Investigators did a Google search and found a similar vehicle was for sale at Premier Auto. Officers then discovered the vehicle was stolen from Premier Auto.

The next day, Central Chevrolet reported a silver Malibu was missing from their lot.

Police believe the suspects stole each vehicle by switching out the keys during the test drive.
