Police: Two men arrested for stealing $3,000 worth of items from mini storage

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Two Jonesboro men were arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from local mini storage units, according to a police report.

Kenneth Robert Sutton, 42, of Jonesboro was charged Monday with breaking or entering into units at Budget Mini Storage, 1819 Cain Street. A second man, Joshua Kent Watkins, 33, of Jonesboro was also arrested for breaking and entering.

According to the police report, a black briefcase was found at CNI Electric on Highland Drive on Dec. 15. When police searched the briefcase, they discovered it had been taken from a storage unit at Budget Mini Storage.

During the investigation, police found several units had been broken into.

In all, a hand-cranked drill, Suzuki dirt bike, air compressor, tools, rivet gun, racing gear, and other items were discovered missing, according to the police report. Total value of the missing items is approximately $3,400.

The police report stated that at 2:00 a.m. on Dec. 15, a black truck pulled into the business. The passenger then got out and placed duct tape over the surveillance cameras.

The following day, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle. The owner said he allowed Sutton borrow the truck. While at the residence, officers discovered a few items that belonged to a victim, the report stated.

Sutton was arrested during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Sutton and Watkins were given a $7,500 bond.
