Local stores filled with returns Saturday after Christmas

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Last week stores were packed with last minute shoppers trying to get those perfect gifts the last Saturday before Christmas.

On the Saturday after Christmas, Region 8 News wanted to see what the retail traffic was like.

Brandon Stevens with Gearhead Outfitters said Saturday was steady with people coming in to make returns, but Friday was by far the busier day.

He said a number of shoppers came in Friday to exchange some of the gifts they'd received.

Stevens said it's common to see a large number of customers the first few days after Christmas.

“You know, you think you pick out what's going to be the perfect gift and it's maybe the perfect size but not the right color, or vice versa. So people coming in to see if there's something they like a little bit better,” Stevens said.

He said with some families still celebrating Christmas this weekend, he suspects they will be busy throughout next week.

He did say after the first of the year, things will slow down and they can finally get their store back in order.

Best Buy and Walmart also reported being very busy with returns Saturday.
