Several burglaries reported in Jonesboro since Christmas

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department said it is investigating several burglaries reported since Christmas.

According to a police report, an officer was dispatched to the 100-block of Melrose Street Friday around noon.

The victim told the officer his house was broken into while he was gone for Christmas. He said that $400 in cash, a laptop, a Nintendo DS and a backpack was taken.

The victim said it looked like the suspect came in through an unlocked bedroom window and left through a side door.

A Jonesboro police officer was dispatched to Methodist Family Health on Stone Street Friday around 4:25 p.m. for a separate burglary case.

An employee told the officer that when she walked into work she noticed the flat screen TV that usually hangs on the wall was missing. The employee said the TV was taken sometime between 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 4:00 p.m. Friday.

She also told the officer all of the doors to the business were locked and no damage had been done to the doors or locks.

A third burglary was reported Saturday morning at the 900-block of North Patrick Street.

The victim said $75 in cash and $300 in checks were stolen from her bedroom.

The victim told police she left her apartment around 1:00 p.m. on Christmas day to go eat dinner. She said when she got home her front door was open.

She said she didn't notice anything was missing until the next night when she decided to count the money she got for Christmas.

The woman realized the cash and checks were gone when she looked in the envelope where the money was.

There were no signs of forced entry into her apartment, according to the police report.

A truck was also found in a field after being taken from a parking lot Christmas night.
