Hoxie City Council to vote on measure to move police dispatch

HOXIE, AR (KAIT) - The Hoxie City Council will meet Tuesday to discuss a cost cutting measure regarding the city's dispatch center.

According to Mayor Lanny Tinker, the city will vote to enter into a contract with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office to operate the city's dispatch system. Currently, the city runs its own police dispatch for approximately $90,000 per year.

The contract with the county is valued at more than $48,000 per year, saving the city roughly $40,000 per year.

Symphonie Privett will have an update on their decision and how it could impact emergency response in the city.
