Floral Man Killed In Iraq

FLORAL--How do you tell a young child his father has died and will not be coming back?  For Lisa Buie those fears were recently realized when the military informed her that her husband had died in the line of duty serving his country.

Lisa says her family will choose to not be bitter to those who harmed her husband, but to be thankful for what Jimmy brought to this world.  While going through pictures she recalled how they had only one professionally made family photo, but that it showed Jimmy how she would like to remember him.  He was smiling from cheek to cheek.  “He has a smile on his face.”  She says.  You can see how happy he is in his eyes.

Jimmy Buie was a member of the Arkansas National Guard.  Lisa says the military would not tell her much, but did say he was killed when a IED (Improvised Explosive Device) exploded under a humvee he was driving in.  Buie was 43 years old.

Lisa says she hopes her husband’s death serves as a reminder to Americans.  Adding those opposed to the war should only be thankful they have a choice to not participate.  “Jimmy wasn’t drafted.”  She says.  “He resigned on his own free will and went over there to help in something he believes in.
