Lunch and Learn focuses on fitness in the New Year

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The New Year just kicked off and almost everyone is thinking about getting healthy.

Staff at a Region 8 hospital wants to make sure you do it the right way.

A Lunch and Learn focusing on exercise and fitness took place Friday at the St. Bernards Health and Wellness Institute.

Fitness Specialist Adrian Sportsman said one of the biggest problems surrounding health is misinformation.

“A lot of people have a lot of rumors or myths or have no understanding of what health or exercise is all about, so we're just going to go over the variety of topics of it,” Sportsman said.

She went over things like body fat, exercise, cardio consumption and even muscle soreness.

“A lot of people are not sure on a lot of things about their health and the things they do,” Sportsman said. “They're sold on infomercials or the fad diets or things that aren't ever really healthy for you.”

The Lunch and Learns are hosted once a month at St. Bernards.
