MARION, AR - Some people in Crittenden County will endure a second night without heat or hot water. Seventeen hundred residents in Crawfordsville, Earle, Parkin and the outskirts of Marion lost their natural gas service. It all happened when a valve on an Arkla pipeline malfunctioned Thursday around 4:30 p.m.

Arkla service workers attended to the problem Thursday night and Friday. During that time they managed to restore gas service to about 400 of their customers. That means about 1,000 people will have to wait until Saturday to have their gass services turned back on.

About 90 service workers are going door to door to return service to customers. They are covering a 22 mile radius and are not starting or stopping in any particular area first.

Arkla officials say they will resume work on gas meters around 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning. They do anticipate that everyone will have gas service by the end of the day.
