No. 19 Razorbacks lose to Tennessee in last minute thriller
KNOXVILLE, TN (arkansasrazorbacks.com)– After falling behind early in hostile territory, the Razorback men's basketball team cut a 13-point deficit to one in the final four minutes, but ultimately dropped its third game of the season to Tennessee 74-69 at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday.
With the loss, the Razorbacks dropped to 13-3 overall, 2-1 in the SEC, while the Volunteers improved to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the SEC on the season.
Coming off of a season-high performance against Vanderbilt on Jan. 10, sophomore Bobby Portis again led the team with 17 points and 11 rebounds. This marked Portis' fourth double-double of the season.
Junior Michael Qualls also came away with double-digit points, scoring 15 on 5-of-11 from the floor. The Shreveport, Louisiana native shot well from the charity stripe, making 4-of-4. In his second 10-plus point game of his career, freshman Anton Beard scored 12, including a massive three-pointer from deep to cut the Razorback deficit to just three leading into halftime.
Arkansas is back in action on Sat., Jan. 17 when it faces Ole Miss at home at 8:30 p.m. CT.
