MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) -

Sheriff's deputies arrested Mary Sue Close after they say she admitted to stealing prescription medication from one of her patients.

Tuesday's arrest came after the Baxter County Sheriff's Office received information in December that tramadol and alprazolam pills were missing from the victim's bedroom.

According to a news release from the sheriff, the victim had noticed some of her medications had disappeared within recent months.

Prior to Close's home visit on Dec. 29, the victim and her daughter counted all of the pills. After Close left the home they recounted the pills and discovered 38 pills were missing.

During a Jan. 9 interview with a detective, Close reportedly “admitted to stealing pills from the victim over the past 2 months.”

Close is charged with controlled substances-fraudulent practices, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and theft of property.

She is currently free on $10,000 bond awaiting a Jan. 22 appearance in Circuit Court.
