PARAGOULD, AR (CRC) - A tough Morthland College team took the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College to the wire on Monday night with solid defense and hot shooting before CRC sealed a 91-86 win. The Pioneers converted from the free throw line in the second half to pull out the win.
Quin Cooper led the Pioneers with 24 points, including a perfect 12 for 12 effort from the free throw line on the night. Roy Marshall added 19 points and Cameron Ballard added 10 points in the win.
CRC took a 41-34 halftime lead before Morthland came storming back in the second half due to a 13 of 35 shooting effort from the three point line. CRC settled down late making six straight free throws in the final two minutes to secure the win.
Morthland College is coached by former Southern Illinois University Head Coach Rich Herrin. He was head coach of the Southern Illinois Salukis men's basketball team from 1985 to 1998.
CRC improves to 15-4 on the season and play Saturday as they travel to St. Louis to face Harris-Stowe State College.
