LITTLE ROCK, AR - Legislators convened the 85th General Assembly this afternoon, and they face continuing questions about how to fund education-related improvements.
The House and Senate have to craft a plan to improve public school facilities as part of its answer to a state Supreme Court order to make the state's education system adequate.
But rather than tackle the big issues first, legislators are dealing with housekeeping issues today. New members will take their seats and legislative leaders will get their assignments.
Governor Huckabee is scheduled to give his final state-of-the-state address to a joint session of the House and Senate tomorrow. Huckabee says he wants health, highways and higher education to be the central parts of his legislative package.
