Arkansas counting on improved defense against Alabama

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas coach Mike Anderson isn't ready to panic after back-to-back losses. He is ready to see an improved defensive effort from the struggling Razorbacks.

Arkansas (13-4, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) fell out of the Top 25 after a pair of losses last week, including a 96-82 defeat at home to Mississippi.

The Razorbacks allowed the Rebels to shoot a season-high 56.4 percent, an ongoing problem.

The numbers are even worse in SEC play, where Arkansas' opposition is shooting 51.2 percent - leading Anderson to focus on defense this week in practice.

Following the end of their 16-game home winning streak, Arkansas hosts Alabama (12-5, 2-2) on Thursday night.
