JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Approximately 2,100 customers of Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation can expect a temporary power outage sometime Monday afternoon or evening, according to Monty Williams.
Williams told Region 8 News that a tree was knocked down by strong winds Sunday night. The tree then hit power lines causing equipment in the southwest Paragould substation to malfunction.
When the substation went down, residents near Highway 351, Highway 40 south of Paragould, and residents north of Brookland lost power.
Williams said power was out from 10:00 Sunday night to 3:00 Monday morning.
Williams said power has since been restored and a mobile substation will be installed Monday afternoon. Once the mobile substation is operating, crews will "flip the switch" back to normal operation. Residents may lose power for ten minutes while the system normalizes.
Members who don't have power are urged to call 1-888-771-7772.
