Store manager shoots at robbers, reward offered

A Region 8 business manager ran off three suspects who tried to rob her business on Wednesday night, according to Blytheville police.

Blytheville Police Captain Scott Adams said officers were called to the Domino's on North 6th Street at around 9 p.m. for an aggravated robbery.

"There were three suspects that came in," Adams said. "One was armed and two came around the corner. The manager heard some loud noises or someone yelling, then she comes out and they see her. The offender with the gun shoots and she returns fire, then they all ran out."

Adams said he doesn't believe the suspects got away with anything and the employees helped police begin their investigation.

"The employees in the store were able to see which way they ran," Adams said.

Adams said the department is following up on new leads.

They are also offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information.

He said there have been several robberies near Domino's within the last few weeks. In fact, Adams said Domino's was robbed twice last month.

"Each one of these robberies have consistent descriptions of the offenders," Adams said. "So we're looking at possibly three being tied to the same people."

Right now, detectives are working to gather surveillance video from nearby businesses.

Adams said robberies occur in all towns but ones that involve gunshots aren't very common. He said most of the time the robbers are able to get in and out of stores quickly, but that wasn't the case this time.

"I think they picked the wrong store this time," Adams said.

Captain Adams applauds the employees for the way they responded during the tense moments during the attempted robbery.

"They all took cover and they got out of the way," Adams said. "We don't want anybody getting hurt."
