City of Jonesboro shows support for veterans

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Evidence of Jonesboro's support for veterans is now on the roadways.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin, Craighead County Judge Ed Hill and state Representative Homer Lenderman met with members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart to unveil a new sign Friday afternoon.

In 2012, Perrin proclaimed Jonesboro a "Purple Heart City".

The sign is located on Highway 63 as you enter Jonesboro from Bono.

“For us, this allows people coming into the city to recognize the fact that Jonesboro does take care of its veterans,” said Military Order of the Purple Heart member Loyd Davis. “That we look after our veterans. Especially those who have been wounded, those who gave paid the ultimate price and gave their lives for our nation.”

Signs will be placed at all six entrances into Jonesboro.
