HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) - The Harrisburg Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
According to Harrisburg Police Chief Gary Hefner, officers received a call about a shooting Saturday at the intersection of Williams Street and Crawford Street, shortly after 10:15 p.m.
When officers arrived Michael Buie, 36, of Cherry Valley told police he shot Johnathan House, 37, of Harrisburg, after an altercation. House was shot near the neck and chin area with a .40-caliber handgun, Hefner said.
Buie told officers it was in self-defense, but police did not confirm if it was justified. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Buie does own a concealed carry weapon permit for Arkansas.
As of Sunday, House was being treated at a hospital in Memphis. Family members told police House "was alert and talking."
Buie was arrested and is expected to appear in court Monday on first degree battery charges.
