George A. Siebert, 80, entered into the gates of Heaven after an unexpected and brief illness at St. Bernards Medical Center on Sunday, February 1, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born September 14, 1934 in Centerville, Illinois.

George was a well-known businessman and horticulturalist in northeast Arkansas since 1957 and the owner of Mid-South Nursery and Greenhouses. He spent many years, along with his good friend, Tony Brooks, sharing gardening tips during his “Growing Smart” series on KAIT.

He was a devoted family man and loyal member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Arkansas Razorback basketball fan. He enjoyed spending time with family, drawing, fishing, gardening and sharing his bounty with others. Above all he was a very proud husband, father and grandfather.

George is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Faye Schwarz Siebert; daughters, Georgia Frego (James), Debi Siebert Orr, Becky Pope (Kelly), Connie Jones, Teresa Rogers (Joe), Paula Eaton (Marty) and Angel St. Pierre (Dr. Lee) all of Jonesboro; sixteen grandchildren, Dr. Anthony Wayne Orr (Stephanie) of Shreveport, LA, Dr. Andrew Orr (Cathy) of Rogers, Christopher Orr of Jonesboro, Heather Pfeifer of Boulder, CO, Seth Frego, Bryan Pope (Haley), Kevin Pope (Amanda) of Jonesboro, Autumn Allen (Nick) of Fayetteville, Ashley Chitmon (Lt. Col. USAF Wayne) of Columbus, MS, Chelsea and Chandler Rogers, Anna Claire and Will Eaton, Jackson, Parker and Spencer St. Pierre all of Jonesboro; thirteen great-grandchildren, Charlotte Grace and Will Orr, Matthew and Katie Orr, Sydney, Sophey and Savannah Pope, Logan Mallard, Ava, Olivia and Walker Allen, and Conner and Kaicey Chitmon; two sisters, Margaret Siebert Hirtz of Glennonville, MO and Doris Siebert Bauer of Arnold, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Wilhelmina Fortman Siebert; his brothers, Daniel, Bernard, Fred, Bill Siebert; sister, Gertrude Siebert Hirtz, eleven hours earlier.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with rosary at 7:00 pm.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Robert Ballman and Father Jack Vu officiating.

A private burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Brooks, David Watkins, Ralph Boling, Larry Boling, Dr. Danny Grubbs, Bill Clark, Tommy Northern and Sean Shrum.

As he did in life, with any celebration, he requested donations to be made to Motherhood of Jonesboro, in care of Blessed Sacrament Church.
