Drivers in Region 8 paying more at the pump

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Lower gas prices were nice while they lasted, but prices are heading back up.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price for a regular gallon of gas in the U.S. is $2.13.

Arkansas drivers, on average, pay $1.99. On Thursday, however, many places in Jonesboro sold gas for $2.09.

Analysts with GasBuddy.com say you should expect prices to continue to climb.

“It was at $1.98 and 15 minutes later, I came back and it raised up 10 cents that fast,” Jermain Donaby of West Helena said. “I was like wow!”

“I drive quite a bit for work, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can,” Megan Owens of Pocahontas said.

Despite the small increase at the pump, it's still a significant difference from January 2014 when a regular gallon of gas cost drivers $3.06.
