BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Baxter County deputies arrested an armed man after he led them on a chase Thursday afternoon.

According to a news release, Jerry Dean Hopper Jr., 41, was driving south on State Hwy. 5 east of Mountain Home shortly after 12 p.m. when a lieutenant with the sheriff's department tried to pull him over.

Hopper refused to stop and led police down Hwy. 62 and Hwy. 412 all the way to his home.

Hopper then ran into his home and barricaded himself.

While several law enforcement agencies joined the search, an Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife officer who knew Hopper convinced him to surrender at around 1:45 p.m.

Hopper has an outstanding felony bench warrant from the Paragould Police Department for felony terroristic threatening and misdemeanor terroristic threatening.

Those charges will be added to his fleeing from an officer charge in Baxter County.
