February 5th is an important day here in Region 8. It is National Weather Person's Day. That's a day when we all stop and appreciate the hard work and dedication of Meteorologists, forecasters, and storm spotters for their service to us.
On National Weather Person's day, I want to salute Chief Meteorologist Ryan Vaughan and Meteorologists Justin Logan and Andrew Wilson. The Region 8 Storm Team has two passions, one is obvious, they love the weather and are among the best in America at what they do. But most important, they are dedicated to saving lives.
February 5th is also the anniversary of one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in recent memory. 13 people died that day, but countless thousands were kept safe. Chief Meteorologist Ryan Vaughan was on the air for hours keeping Region 8 viewers ahead of the 122 mile long track tornado, the longest track recorded in Arkansas.
When you talk to Ryan about it, you realize quickly that day was life changing for him and for all of us. The next time you see you see Ryan, Justin or Andrew, shake their hand and tell them thanks. Their dedication to the safety and passion for what they do makes this a better Region 8.
