Region 8 organization helps others stay healthy

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

An organization hosted a free health screening event Saturday in Trumann.

Craighead County Families United For Mental Health sponsored the event.

The theme was "Love yourself, your family, and your community”.

Community members gathered to hear speakers and learn about mental and physical health.

Nedra Cook organized the event and said events like this are needed to improve communities.

“Wellness programs are out there, but still people are in denial about their health issues,” Cook said. “So, we thought if we bring it to the people they will be more acceptable of it, of looking at whatever their problems are. Whether it be mental health or physical health.”

Those at the event were able to visit and learn about dental and mental health.

They could even get their blood pressure checked.

Cook said she is very pleased with the turn out.
