Blytheville Humane Society adopts out 13 dogs

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It was a very successful adoption day for the Blytheville Humane Society.

Thirteen of the 16 dogs at the monthly Petco adoption drive found their forever families Saturday.

Before adopting out the dogs, BHS deworms, spays and neuters and updates their shots. The humane society even microchips every animal.

The pets' new families then pay a $125 adoption fee.

Adoption Coordinator Pam Ford encourages families to do their research before coming to one of these adoption events.

"Figure out what kind of dog it is that you would like to have," Ford said. "Think about your lifestyle first. If you're a couch potato, you need to get a dog that's not really, really hyper."

BHS hosts adoption days at Petco in Jonesboro the first Saturday of each month from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It also holds adoption drives at Hollywood Feed in Jonesboro on the third Saturday of every month at the same time.
