It's the end of an era. Radio Shack announced that they're filing for bankruptcy and making plans to close thousands of stores including 4 here in Region 8 and many more across the state of Arkansas.
Radio Shack was always known as the place to go for all things electronic and for many years stayed on the forefront of new technology. Sadly, times have changed quickly. Businesses like Radio Shack who were so strong for decades but weren't able to evolve as fast as their customers are paying the price.
We can all learn a valuable lesson from this.
New technology has made all of us more savvy, better connected and each of us lives differently than we did just a few years ago. It's a fact that cannot be denied! In today's business world the name of the game is evolution and technology is forcing all of us... the consumers to evolve and because of this, businesses must evolve too. And if you think about it, the willingness to evolve technologically is key to success for everyone including schools, churches, governments and families.
It's sad to see these stores on the closing list and to see people losing their jobs. The willingness to evolve keeps us relevant. Embracing technology, understanding that it's changing our lives and taking the steps needed to keep up will make this A Better Region 8.
