JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The family of Chavis Carter is set to make an announcement Tuesday evening in what's being called a "renewed call for justice."
In July 2012, Jonesboro police said Carter committed suicide in the back of a patrol car. The announcement is expected to be in connection to that closed investigation. For a comprehensive look back at the case, click
Carter's family and high-profile attorney Benjamin Crump are expected to speak at the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jonesboro at 5 p.m.
Crump was involved in the Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin cases.
