BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Baxter County man who led police on a brief police chase was charged with possession of drugs and fleeing from an officer Thursday morning.
According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, Robert Willett, 31, was pulled over Thursday by a sheriff's deputy on Highway 62 and the Highway 412 bypass near Walmart and Blackburn Drive for a traffic violation. When the officer asked to search the vehicle, Willett drove away.
The officer then ran back to his vehicle and chased Willett for approximately 2 minutes. The officer also noticed Willett throw items from his car window during the pursuit. Officers reportedly found a syringe after the chase.
Willett was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and a weapon, reckless driving, fleeing from an officer, and disobeying a stop sign.
Willett was given a $20,000 bond and ordered to appear in court on March 12.
This isn't the first time the Baxter County Sheriff's office arrested Willett on drug charges.
He was arrested in 2010 along with five other people in a meth bust.
