JPD investigates copper theft at hotel

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Jonesboro Police Department is investigating a copper theft at the Town & Country Inn and Suites hotel.

Right now, the hotel is closed for renovations.

According to the police report, the owner said the hotel was 90 days away from reopening.

The police report states the owner said there were two security guards on the property working 12-hour shifts around the clock.

The owner reports $130,000 worth of stolen copper wire and $25,000 worth of drywall damage.

On Tuesday, a UPS driver called police about a possible break in at the property.

Two officers secured the door. However, in between Tuesday and Friday, someone stole the copper wire and damaged the building.
