Region 8 election coordinator resigns

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Craighead County election coordinator resigned Friday after tens of thousands of dollars went unbilled.

During an election committee meeting that afternoon, commission member Jeannette Robertson read Sandra Taylor's resignation letter to guests.

Sandra Taylor reportedly fell behind about $90,000 in election reimbursement billing.

“I feel this is best to ensure the credibility of the elections process in Craighead County is never questioned,” Taylor said. “Due to the changes in the past year, I also feel this position now requires more time than I am able to commit.”

The election commission accepted her resignation and recommended Craighead County Judge Ed Hill also accept it.

Robertson said the State Board of Election Commissioners told her they have until June 30, the end of the fiscal year, to request reimbursement from them.
