Sheriff's Facebook page popular among residents

GREENE COUNTY,AR (KAIT) -

Sheriffs' offices are turning to social media to keep the public informed and safe.

In the short time it has been up and running, the Greene County Sheriff's Office Facebook page already has more than 2,000 "likes."

Sheriff David Carter said he realized the majority of the public is on Facebook and it is the best way to reach them. The department posts arrests, school closings and, most recently, road conditions.

The page has already received a large amount of positive feedback and Sheriff Carter said the hard work is worth it.

“It is a lot of work. We still have more work to do on it,” said Sheriff Carter. “We still want to add Most Wanted. We haven't got that on there yet, but we are working on that.”

Carter said it was a campaign promise to be transparent and keep the citizens informed. He said he plans to keep that promise.

Carter hopes to keep the page updated and the lines of communication open.
