FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KAIT)
– Led again by the top scoring SEC duo of sophomore Bobby Portis and
Qualls, the University of Arkansas men's basketball team defeated Missouri 84-69 at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night.
With the victory, the Razorbacks improved to 21-5 overall, 10-3 in the SEC, while the Tigers fell to 7-19 overall and 1-12 in conference
20-point game in his last 35 contests, Qualls led Arkansas with 21 points. The Shreveport, Louisiana native shot 5-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from behind the arc. Just short of his tenth double-double of the season, Portis came away with 16 points and nine rebounds. The sophomore shot 8-of-12 from the field and made one block and grabbed two steals.
Scoring in double-digits for his second consecutive game, freshman Anton Beard contributed 13 points. Beard also came away with a game-high five assists along with grabbing three rebounds and getting one steal.
Though the Razorbacks performed well offensively, they also played a commanding defense. Arkansas forced Missouri into 20 turnovers, which proved valuable as the Razorbacks scored 18 points off of miscues.
Arkansas next hits the road to face Mississippi State at Humphrey Coliseum at 3 p.m., CT on ESPN3 on Saturday.
