JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Just when the ice from earlier in the week was starting to melt, another winter system dumped more sleet on Region 8 Friday morning.
It was a busy day for police, road crews and towing companies as they worked to clear the roads.
Authorities throughout Craighead County reported several accidents this morning.
Several of them were on Highway 63, where drivers lost control and some hit the median.
Craighead County Road Department worker Jeremy Dement said the department has been working on the roads since early this morning.
"We spray sand on the roads," Dement said. "It comes out on both sides and helps with the traction."
Jeremy Russell, an employee of KEG Towing in Jonesboro said today was a busy day for them as well.
"We've probably worked 14 to 15 or so total," Russell said.
