LITTLE ROCK, AR - Several hundred Arkansans are planning to go to Washington, D.C. this week to attend President Bush's inauguration.
Reta Hamilton of Bella Vista, a member of the Republican National Committee, has been to three inaugurations and she warns other Arkansans that the stress level is always high. The crowds are intense and travel, even on Washington's well-regarded Metro system, is difficult, she said.
Arkansas' lone Republican in Congress, Representative John Boozman, said he's received more than 300 ticket requests from Arkansans. He has fewer than 200 to distribute, but the Democratic members of the state's delegation have agreed to help.
For partygoers, four large Arkansas companies, Alltel, Stephens, Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart Stores are holding an invitation-only gathering to watch the parade. Wal-Mart and Lockheed Martin are hosting a reception for the Camden Fairview band and Arkansans with tickets can attend the Constitution Ball at the Washington Hilton.
