JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The ice may be melting, but the problems it caused are not.
Some homeowners are having a hard time keeping warm, because ice has gathered on their heating unit.
Rodney Dunlap with Repair USA said there are things you can do to keep this from happening.
"Generally caused from water coming off of the roof line," Dunlap said. "It can be stopped by a piece of guttering or the units being moved from the downfall of the house a little bit."
Dunlap said you can also turn the power off before ice begins to fall and cover the unit with a tarp.
Make sure the power is completely off and the fans have stopped before covering the unit up, otherwise you could burn up the motor.
