Salem man arrested for sexual indecency with a child

SALEM, AR (KAIT) -

A Fulton County man was arrested for sexual indecency with a child after an incident nearly 2 years ago.

Daniel Jones, 53, of Salem was arrested on a felony warrant for sexual indecency with a child, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

Court documents state the investigation began after a call was made to the Arkansas State Police Crime Against Children Division in Oct. 2014 about an incident that happened during the summer of 2013.

The report states Jones was "partying" at an undisclosed residence when the victim, who was 9 years old at the time, said he came into her room while she was sleeping. The victim said Jones crawled into her bed naked and began to rub her back.

The girl told Jones to leave and when he got up, she told police she saw his penis. She said she was afraid he would return and want to have sex with her.

Jones was interviewed about the incident on Feb. 15, 2015 and told police he got into "Blackout Drinking." He then said he used the bathroom, wandered into the bedroom naked and got into the girl's bed. He then left after he said he heard the girl's voice.

Jones will appear in circuit court on March 12.
