JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - One Region 8 school already has a plan in place in case more wintry weather hits our area this week. They will have class despite the icy roads, but students will be in the safety of their homes.
Ridgefield Christian School is part of a pilot program called Renweb, introduced by the Arkansas Non-Public School Accreditation Association.
This program allows the students to attend class digitally.
Teachers put their lessons online and they are available for questions about the work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Administrator Marcia Elder said they used the cyber program for the first time last week and the response was positive.
"Some of the parents made favorable comments that it was an opportunity for them to have time to spend with their student, to work interactively with the assignments, to get a better idea of what their students are actually doing in the classrooms," Elder said.
This system is being used for the entire school.
Elder said they are allowed to use five cyber days.
The program is also available as a phone app.
