POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

While thousands of new employees are expected to move into Region 8 thanks to PECO, one entity is working to make housing available to potential residents.

The Black River Area Development Corporation is working to make housing opportunities a reality.

Jim Jansen, Executive Director of BRADC, said he's working with a developmental company out of Batesville. The company will develop plans for low-income housing units.

“They're planning on 32 units,” Jansen said. “It would be 16 duplexes with a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom in each duplex.”

Jansen said BRADC sent their proposal to the Arkansas Development Finance Authority. He expects to hear from the agency by the end of March.
