WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - Three people from Lawrence County were arrested following a traffic stop in Walnut Ridge. One person was arrested on drug charges.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, a sheriff's deputy stopped the vehicle on Feb. 25 for a minor violation on Jay St.
As the officer attempted to make the stop, the vehicle went into a ditch and got stuck.
Ross Flinn of Hoxie, Jeremy Grooms of Walnut Ridge and Christy Hattenhauer also of Walnut Ridge were in the vehicle at the time.
Police said Grooms, the driver, gave the deputy a false name and fled on foot following initial contact with the officer. Other officers arrived on scene and captured Grooms.
Officers say Flinn, the front-seat passenger, was reaching under his seat. When officers asked him to step out of the vehicle they saw him throw something under the vehicle.
Investigators discovered the objects were hypodermic needles. A brown bank bag was found under the seat containing drugs.
Flinn's charges include possession of meth and controlled substances without a prescription.
Grooms was charged with fleeing, driving on suspended license and criminal impersonation.
The second passenger, Hattenhauer, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.
