Berry to Host Prescription Drug Fair in Jonesboro

JANUARY 18, 2005 - Posted at 3:34 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - First District Congressman Marion Berry is inviting all Arkansans to a prescription drug fair that he will host in Jonesboro on February 11.

The event is open to the public, and will feature representatives of both state and national organizations "all set on achieving one goal: helping people afford their prescription drugs."

"The soaring costs of prescription drugs is a national problem," Berry said.  "And while I continue to fight for lower drug prices, we must help everyone explore every available option.  This prescription drug fair will give residents the opportunity to speak directly with representatives of local, state and national programs that determine what opportunities may be available to them.  It is imperative that we help people tackle the high cost of prescription drugs in any way possible."

Representatives from the following organizations will be on hand for the fair...

-AARP

-East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging

-Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care

-Center on Aging-Northeast

-Crowley's Ridge Rural Health

-Crowley's Ridge Development Council

-NEA Charitable Foundation

-Seniors Health Insurance Information Programs (SHIIP)

-local pharmacists.

The event is set for 10 a.m. to noon at the Earl Bell Community Center at 1212 South Church Street in Jonesboro.
