JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro man faces child endangerment charges after police say he left 6 kids home alone.

Jonesboro police arrested Franco Montez Brown, 34, on suspicion of endangering the welfare of an incompetent person-first degree.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday the children's mother called police stating Brown was supposed to be watching the kids, ranging in age from 3 months to 11 years, while she went to pay bills, the initial incident report said.

She said she had left Brown with the children around 2:30, the report said. An hour later she said Brown sent her a text saying he was ready to leave.

When the mother arrived home 30 minutes later she found the kids crying and Brown was gone, the report said.

She said Brown returned to the home and tried to get in the house. Fearing they would get into a fight she said she called police and Brown left the house.

Officers went to the Deluxe Inn, 402 Gee St., where Brown lives and arrested him. They took him to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing.

The Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children hotline was contacted.
