Wanted man arrested in murder-for-hire case

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - U.S. marshals and Blytheville police have arrested a man wanted in a murder-for-hire case.

Police say the man, identified as Calvin "Murdoc" Aldridge" agreed to kill Tylon King's ex-girlfriend.

Blytheville police and the Second Judicial Drug Task Force arrested Aldridge at a home located between McGruder Lane and Clear Lake Street.

Captain Scott Adams, Blytheville Criminal Investigation Department, said they had several strong leads Tuesday morning and were confident they would find Aldridge. Adams said before arresting Aldridge, King's ex-girlfriend was fearful for her life and wanted protection. 

Adams said murder-for-hire cases aren't common. "No, not at all, but listening to the phone calls, he was pretty desperate about getting out of jail," Adams said. "During my career, I think this is maybe the second one we have worked."

Officers arrested him on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. 

Adams said during questioning Aldridge confirmed his nickname was "Murdoc," the same used during the phone calls, and admitted to being part of the coded conversation with King and Bingham.

On Wednesday Aldridge was bound over to circuit court. His bond was set at $100,000 and a court date was scheduled for April 30.

King's ex-girlfriend said she does feel better knowing Aldridge is behind bars, but she is still worried about future threats.
