Randolph county man killed when semi falls from jack

LYNN, AR -

A Randolph County man died after a semi truck fell off of a jack and landed on top of him Thursday morning, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.

Detective Jamie White told Region 8 News that Melvin Merrel, 59, of Ravenden was working on a semi when the accident happened.

Police received the 911 call from a witness at the scene, which was just outside of Lynn.

The Lawrence County coroner pronounced Merrel dead at the scene.
