Deputies use stun gun to prevent escape

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - On Thursday, Jonesboro resident Raymond Roedel attempted to run away from county deputies as he was escorted to the jail.

Roedel appeared in court at Lawrence County for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and multiple Drug Delivery charges. The judge ordered that Roedel be placed into custody.

As Deputy Jeff Midgett and Detective Jamie White escorted Roedel to jail, he broke away and ran to the front of the courthouse. Both Deputy Midgett and Deputy James Price chased Roedel through the lobby and out onto the front lawn of the courthouse. The deputies immobilized Roedel with a stun gun before he could cross Highway 412.

Roedel was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but is now back in jail.
