Escalade Tops List of Stolen Vehicles

Jonesboro, AR--If you drive a Cadillac Escalade EXT you may want to double check to make sure you locked your doors.  According to the Highway Loss Data Institute the Cadillac sports truck has the highest insurance theft losses reported.  This data was gathered using vehicles which are one to three years old.

The Escalade EXT and its sibling the regular Escalade are both in the top three.  Sandwiched between the two vehicles is the Nissan Maxima.

All three of these vehicles are attractive to thieves due to expensive items on the vehicles.  The Cadillac Escalade is known for its expensive tires and rims.  The rims alone on one of the vehicles can run up to more than ten thousand dollars.  The 2002 Nissan Maxima saw an upgrade to the more expensive high intensity discharge headlights.  These lights can cost more than seven hundred dollars per light.  These lights fit into older Nissan Maxima who were not sold with such lights.

Each year three lists come out compiling the most stolen vehicles in theUS.  The HLDI list usually differs from the other lists because it is looking at insurance theft losses.  Insurance theft losses increase with more specialty items on a car.  The other two lists are by the CCC Information Services Inc. and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Completing out the HLDI list are the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring sharing the number four spot and the Dodge Intrepid coming in number five.
