HOT SPRINGS, AR (AP) - Colton Watson scored 40 points, including 14 during a 17-6 second-half run, to lift Bay to an 83-56 victory over Emerson and the Arkansas Class A Boys high school basketball championship on Thursday.
Bay (32-4) had three turnovers in the first minute and fell behind 4-0, then raced away. Watson's 3-pointer just before the end of the opening quarter made it 25-11.
After Emerson's Tavion Revels, who finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, cut Bay's lead to 56-39, Watson scored 12 of his team's next 13 points. Another bucket with 5:01 left made it 73-45.
Taylor Layne scored 15 and Tyler Pritchell added 13 for Bay. Jaleen Jackson scored 18 points for Emerson (32-3).
The title was Bay's third this decade - all in odd-numbered years. Emerson won the 2001 title.
